Youha In-House Expert
IBCLC Joelleen
Since 2010 Joelleen has been providing care to families as a midwife, after completing her training in New Zealand, which is world renowned for its model of woman centred care.
During her relocation to Melbourne, Australia, Joelleen also qualified as a Naturopath and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
Joelleen established her private practice JWP in 2021. With JWP, Joelleen has been able to follow her passion for supporting breastfeeding and newborns in a uniquely holistic way, combining all three of her qualifications. From breastfeeding preparation, to advising on nutrition, protecting supply - especially in the NICU environment - Joelleen is able to meet mums where they are at. As an educator in the online community, she also regularly contributes articles in her field of expertise.
After the recent birth of her baby, Joelleen elected to predominantly directly breastfeed, however she chose to pump for co-feeding flexibility and commitments as a female business owner. Her professional knowledge has been upheld by her personal experience: she understands the priorities of pumping - overcoming decision fatigue, pumping with flexibility and convenience, sizing correctly and preventing pump injuries and the mental load that expressing can entail.
With a shared modern, women-first approach, commitment to quality, and authenticity, Joelleen has chosen to partner with Youha, helping more new parents navigate the pumping process with her expert guidance.
